Embracing Consecration: A Journey with Saint Maximilian Kolbe and the Blessed Virgin Mary

Happy New Year!

As the dawn of a new year unfolds, many embark on the familiar journey of crafting resolutions, often revolving around personal growth or lifestyle changes. However, I opted to embark on a journey of spiritual consecration, dedicating myself to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In December, I delved into research on how to consecrate myself to the Virgin Mary, a decision inspired by a deepening desire to deepen my faith and spiritual connection. Through my exploration, I discovered the Militia of the Immaculata, an Official Sanctioned Catholic Ministry founded by Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe, O.F.M. Conv., a revered Polish priest and martyr of the Church in 1917.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe penned the act of consecration that I recited, marking my commitment to Mary's divine guidance and intercession. Additionally, as a member of the organization, known as a Knight of the Foot of the Cross (KFC), I also recited another act of consecration. This journey culminates in the receipt of two signed certificates, enrolling me in this esteemed organization.

The overarching goal of the Militia of the Immaculata is rooted in the evangelization of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, inviting individuals to consecrate themselves to Mary and embrace her maternal care. This profound ministry serves as a beacon of light, guiding souls toward a deeper relationship with God through Mary's loving embrace.

Who was Maximilian Kolbe, O.F.M. Conv.? Rajmund Kolbe, also known as Maksymilian Maria Kolbe, O.F.M. Conv. (January 8, 1894 - August 14, 1941), exemplified heroic virtue and sacrificial love amidst the atrocities of World War II. As a Conventual Franciscan friar, he willingly sacrificed his life in place of a Jewish prisoner in the German death camp, Auschwitz. Kolbe's devotion to the Immaculate Virgin Mary was profound, a devotion forged in childhood when he received a vision of Mary holding two crowns—a white crown symbolizing purity and a red crown symbolizing martyrdom.

Arrested by the German Army for his involvement in publishing a newsletter associated with the Militia of the Immaculata, Kolbe's unwavering faith and courage continue to inspire generations worldwide.

In embracing this journey of consecration, I am filled with a sense of reverence and gratitude for the profound legacy of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, whose life serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
