Journey of Faith: Reflections on My Period of Mystagogy
As the sun sets on the month of July, so too does my Period of Mystagogy draw to a close—a sacred time of reflection following my journey into full Communion with the Catholic Church. Throughout this transformative month, I have embarked on a deeply personal quest to understand what it means to be a devout Catholic and an active member of my parish community.
As I pause to review the progress I have made thus far, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and accomplishment for the strides I have taken on this spiritual path:
1. Embracing the Brotherhood: I am honored to have become a member of the Knights of Columbus—a fraternity dedicated to serving our community and upholding the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.
2. Serving the Parish: In my role as an assistant to the Parish Administrator, I have had the privilege of contributing to the daily operations of our parish. From managing sacrament record requests to assisting with IT and website maintenance, I have found joy in supporting the administrative functions that keep our faith community thriving.
3. Sharing in the Liturgy: Each day, I have humbly stepped forward to serve my parish family by reading Scripture and offering prayers of the faithful during our daily Mass. In these sacred moments, I have felt a deep connection to the heart of our faith and the communion of believers gathered in worship.
While I recognize that there is still much to learn and many more opportunities for growth on my journey, I am grateful for the foundation that I have laid during this period of reflection. As I stand here, a newly formed Catholic, I am filled with a sense of peace and assurance in my faith.
Although my formal Period of Mystagogy may be drawing to a close on July 31, 2020, I am keenly aware that my journey of discovery and spiritual growth is far from over. With each passing day, I remain committed to deepening my understanding of the Catholic faith and becoming an ever more integral part of my parish family.
As I look towards the future with hope and anticipation, I am reminded that the beauty of our faith lies not only in its timeless traditions and teachings, but also in the continuous journey of learning and exploration that enriches our souls and strengthens our bond as members of the Body of Christ.
