Three Years of Grace: Reflecting on My Catholic Journey
Dear Beloved Readers,
It has been far too long since our last connection, and I've transitioned to a new platform for sharing my reflections. As I sit down to catch up with you, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the many blessings and milestones that have adorned my journey in faith and education.
On May 31, 2023, I joyfully marked three years of being in Full Communion with Rome—a journey that has enriched my spirit and illuminated my path. Since my confirmation three years ago, every moment has been a testament to the grace and guidance of our faith.
In 2021, I made the decision to pursue my Associate's Degree, a step towards personal and academic growth after navigating through challenging family matters. With determination and support from my loved ones, I proudly met the graduation requirements set by the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education on December 31, 2022, earning my Associate of Science in General Studies with Summa Cum Laude honors. Now, I embark on the pursuit of my Bachelor's Degree in History, with aspirations of completion by 2025—a testament to resilience and perseverance.
I extend heartfelt thanks to my family for their unwavering support throughout my educational journey. Their dedication has been a beacon of strength and encouragement, guiding me through every hurdle and triumph.
In a moment of profound joy, my eldest brother Nicholas embraced the Catholic faith at the Easter Vigil Mass on April 8, 2023. Serving as one of his sponsors was a privilege and a sacred responsibility, deepening our bond in faith and love.
Amidst these moments of celebration, I must also share news of profound loss. Father George Richards, the Parochial Vicar of St. John and St. Sebastian Churches, appointed by the Most Rev. Michael R. Cote, Bishop of Norwich, has passed away. Father George's journey ended on May 11, 2023, after bravely battling a prolonged illness, which began with a harrowing encounter with COVID-19 in Winter 2020. Attending his funeral in Pawcatuck, Connecticut, was a somber yet sacred honor—one that allowed me to pay tribute to his remarkable life and enduring legacy.
As I prepare to embark on my second term as Grand Knight of Forest City Council 3, following my unanimous election on June 7, 2022, I reflect on the responsibility and privilege of serving my community.
In the midst of these commitments and responsibilities, I hope to resume sharing my reflections with you. However, the frequency of my posts will largely depend on the demands of my academic pursuits and professional obligations.
With heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and prayers, I remain steadfastly yours in Christ,
Anthony Moran
