Unveiling the Sacred: Exploring the Eucharist in RCIA

In our seventh RCIA class, we delved into the profound mystery of the Eucharist, where Catholics believe in the real presence of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ within the consecrated elements of bread and wine. Under the guidance of theologian Dr. Brant Pietre, our exploration reached new depths as we connected the dots between ancient traditions and the sacramental grace of the Eucharist.

Dr. Pietre masterfully wove together threads from the Old Testament, revealing the parallels between the Passover and the Eucharist. It was a revelation that left me both shocked and deeply moved. The realization that these sacred rituals share profound similarities underscored the continuity of God's plan throughout salvation history.

As I absorbed this profound revelation, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate tapestry of faith woven through time. The Eucharist, transcending mere symbolism, stands as the pinnacle of our Catholic faith, a sacred encounter with the living Christ.

This revelation has ignited within me a newfound reverence for the Eucharist, transforming my understanding of its significance. With each passing day, I am filled with awe and gratitude for the profound gift of Christ's presence in the sacrament, and I eagerly anticipate the day when I can partake fully in this divine mystery.

My Vocations Journey: First Steps

Dear Readers, I am excited to share a significant update on my journey of faith. For some time now, I have felt a calling from the Lord to discern the priesthood in His Holy Church. After much encouragement from Fr. Juan, our newest Parochial Vicar, I reached out to the Diocese of Norwich to take the next steps in this discernment process. The journey has not been without its challenges, particularly with recent transitions in the vocations office staff. However, I was finally able to connect with the Diocese's new Vocations Director, Fr. Jeffrey R. Ellis. Until recently, Fr. Ellis served as the Parochial Vicar at St. Michael Parish in Pawcatuck, which is also the home parish of my late Parochial Vicar, Fr. George Richards. Fr. Ellis and I met for dinner at a local diner, where we had an in-depth conversation about my call to the priesthood, my family background, and various aspects of the vocations journey.
