Embracing Milestones: A Lenten Journey to Confirmation and Communion

Lent, a sacred season of introspection and anticipation, calls us to journey alongside our Lord, Jesus Christ, as we await His death and glorious resurrection.

For me, this Lent holds profound significance, marking a series of milestones in my journey as a Catholic. It is my inaugural Lenten season within my Parish community, a time filled with both anticipation and trepidation. In just a few weeks, on April 11th, I will be confirmed during the Easter Vigil, an occasion where I will also partake in my First Communion. Preceding these sacraments, I will undergo the transformative experience of my First Confession, a moment that fills me with a mixture of excitement and nerves.

Throughout my RCIA classes, I've devoted myself to deepening my understanding of Catholicism and immersing myself in the teachings of the Church. However, uncertainties loom, particularly regarding the possibility of receiving the three scrutinies during Lent, given the absence of our Parish Priest, who is attending to a family emergency in India.

Yet, amidst these uncertainties, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering support of my RCIA instructor and the loving embrace of my Parish community. Their guidance and care serve as pillars of strength as I navigate this pivotal moment in my spiritual journey.

As I embark on this Lenten pilgrimage, I humbly ask for your continued prayers. May this season of reflection and renewal usher me into full communion with the Church, as I surrender myself to the transformative grace of God.

Dear Friends, This weekend, I had the opportunity to “come, and rest awhile” at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford for my second themed retreat, titled In My Love, Abide . My Vocations Journey: First Steps

Dear Readers, I am excited to share a significant update on my journey of faith. For some time now, I have felt a calling from the Lord to discern the priesthood in His Holy Church. After much encouragement from Fr. Juan, our newest Parochial Vicar, I reached out to the Diocese of Norwich to take the next steps in this discernment process. The journey has not been without its challenges, particularly with recent transitions in the vocations office staff. However, I was finally able to connect with the Diocese's new Vocations Director, Fr. Jeffrey R. Ellis. Until recently, Fr. Ellis served as the Parochial Vicar at St. Michael Parish in Pawcatuck, which is also the home parish of my late Parochial Vicar, Fr. George Richards. Fr. As the golden hues of autumn grace the world, marking the passage of time, I find myself on the cusp of a significant milestone in my spiritual journey. Just a few months ago, in the radiant glow of May, I embraced the sacrament of confirmation, a profound moment of commitment and devotion.
