Father George: Bishop names him Parochial Vicar and On-Call Chaplain

I am thrilled to share some exciting news that has recently come to light within our parish family. Many of you may recall my previous writings about the esteemed Priest-in-Residence at Saint John Church Rectory, Fr. George Richards—a cherished member of our spiritual community.

In a delightful twist of fate, our beloved Pastor, Fr. James Thaikoottathil, J.C.D., took to our Parish Facebook Page to unveil a surprise announcement that filled our hearts with joy and gratitude. It is with immense pleasure that I reveal the Most Rev. Michael R. Cote, Bishop of Norwich, has bestowed upon Fr. George a new and esteemed role within our parish family.

Fr. George has been appointed as Parochial Vicar to both St. John and St. Sebastian, a testament to his unwavering dedication and spiritual leadership. Additionally, he has been entrusted with the sacred duty of serving as the On-Call Chaplain for our local hospital—a role that speaks volumes about his compassionate heart and willingness to serve.

On behalf of our entire parish community, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Fr. George on this well-deserved appointment. Your presence among us brings light and inspiration to our spiritual journey, and we are truly blessed to have you at the helm of our weekend masses.

As we embark on this new chapter together, may we continue to be guided by the light of Fr. George's wisdom and compassion, as we journey forward in faith and fellowship.
