Finding Peace Amidst Chaos: A Journey of Renewal at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center
Dear Friends,
As I sit down to type these words, I find myself on the final day of a much-needed men's retreat. Alongside a fellow brother knight, I sought solace from the relentless demands of our everyday lives, craving a reprieve from the chaos that often consumes us. It's been a sanctuary of peace, a haven where worries about finances, academics, and work temporarily cease to exist.
Our journey began on a serene Friday evening, arriving just in time for a warm welcome and check-in. After settling into our rooms, we gathered in the dining hall for a nourishing meal, the first of many shared experiences with the men who would accompany us on this retreat.
The heart of our time together lay in the main conference room, where we were introduced to Fr. David Cinquegrani, C.P., and the dedicated retreat team. Inspired by the theme "Only Say the Word," drawn from the Gospel of Matthew, we embarked on a journey of healing and spiritual renewal. Evening prayer in the chapel, blessed with holy water, served as a poignant reminder of our shared faith and commitment to growth.
Despite the temptation of NCAA basketball playoffs, I chose introspection over entertainment, embracing the stillness of the night. Saturday morning greeted me with the gentle light of dawn, a rare opportunity for quiet reflection before the day's activities unfolded.
Communal prayer and nourishment set the tone for heartfelt discussions led by Noel and Sr. Maryann, delving into the depths of personal healing and reconciliation. Workshops and talks filled the day, each contributing to our collective journey of spiritual discovery.
As our time together drew to a close, I found myself enriched by the wisdom shared by Fr. Terry, Sr. Maryann, and Deb, each imparting profound insights into the sacraments and the enduring grace of the Eucharist. Our final evening prayer, steeped in reverence, served as a fitting conclusion to our time of reflection and renewal.
With the dawn of a new day, I embraced the bittersweet farewell, knowing that the memories forged within these walls would linger long after we departed. With a renewed sense of purpose, I prepared to return to the hustle and bustle of daily life, carrying with me the spirit of camaraderie and growth that defined our time together.
To those seeking respite and renewal, I extend a heartfelt invitation to experience the transformative power of retreat at the Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford, Connecticut. Amidst the tranquility of this sacred space, may you find solace, strength, and spiritual renewal, embarking on a journey of discovery that transcends the confines of time and space.
Yours in Christ,
Anthony Moran
